Grist setup service: your invoicing or dashboard, built in your own document
We build the Grist widgets a lot of people use. If you would rather not spend an evening on tables, columns and tax settings, we set it up in your own Grist document and hand it over working. Fixed price. No subscription. You keep everything.
This Grist setup service exists because the same questions arrive after every release of our free widgets: which table holds what, how the tax should be set up, why the logo looks wrong on the PDF, how to get the first XRechnung accepted. Answering them once, properly, in your document, is faster than a week of emails.
Who this is for
- A small business or freelancer that keeps clients and jobs in Grist and wants invoices to come from there, in the right language, with the right tax line, without a second app.
- A team that wants one dashboard over the tables it already has, read by people who will never open the tables themselves.
- A German business that has been asked for an XRechnung or a ZUGFeRD file and wants the first one to be right.
- Anyone who tried the widgets, got most of the way, and wants the last part done by the people who wrote them.

How the Grist setup service works

- You write. Two lines about what you keep in Grist and what you want out of it, in the form below. A link to the document helps, but is not needed yet.
- We call. Twenty minutes, screen shared. We look at your tables together and agree what will be built. You get the price in writing the same day.
- We build. On a copy of your document, or live in a screen-share session with you driving, whichever you prefer. Nothing of yours is changed until you have seen the result.
- We hand over. A call to walk through it, a short written checklist, and the invoice.
What you keep
Everything. The widgets are free and open source, so there is nothing to renew and nothing that stops working if we are not around. The document is yours, the tables are yours, and the setup is stored inside the document itself. If you move to self-hosted Grist later, it moves with you.
Your data stays in your Grist document. The widgets have no server, and a setup done on a copy of your document is deleted from our side once you have imported the result.
Ask for a quote
Two lines are enough: what you keep in Grist, and what you want out of it. You will hear back within one working day with a time for the call. Estimates are free and written.
Grist setup service FAQ
Do you need access to my Grist document?
Only to a copy, or to a screen-share session where you drive. Most setups are done on a copy of your document that you then import over the original, so nothing of yours is touched until you have seen the result.
Is there a subscription?
No. The widgets are free and open source, and the setup is a one-off fixed price. You keep the document, the tables and the widget forever, with nothing to renew.
Can you work with tables I already have?
Yes. The widgets are built to read tables by their column names and to be pointed at any table and column where a guess is wrong. Existing tables are never renamed or restructured; where a column is missing, one is added.
How long does a setup take?
Most invoicing and dashboard setups are handed over within one week of the first call. A setup that waits on your data, such as a client list still to be exported from another tool, takes as long as that export does.
What about German e-invoicing?
Invoice Studio produces XRechnung, Factur-X and UBL files. As part of an invoicing setup we configure the profile your customers require and test a file with the KoSIT validator before handover.
Do you work in German?
Yes. The call, the handover and the written checklist can be in English or German, and the documents the widget produces can be in either, or in French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish or Portuguese.
